The Onion News Network

I remember the first time I came across videos from The Onion News Network on Youtube. At first I thought they were real news stories and apparently so did most of the people leaving comments. I can't blame viewers for being confused. They do such an excellent job of mimicking CNN and other media outlets with their formulaic stories and reporting. I was recently catching up on some of these and thought I'd include some of my favorites here.

These clips are all so well done that if you are not paying close attention they would pass for actual news stories. They are geniuses. I hesitate to promote all their pieces since some of them are inappropriate but for the most part I enjoy them. I'm sick of the usual barrage of insulting news and media so watching their brutal satire is therapeutic for me. I find few things funnier than the straight faced reporting these guys do.

The hollow point bullet clip may be the funniest thing I've ever seen. I love the Onion.

Those were all hilarious. I had never heard of Onion TV. I can't wait to cry from the smell in the future.
Poor Zach Efron!

I love the Onion- but I wish they didn't use the "F" word so much!
One of my favorite clips is "FDA Approves Depressant Drugs For the Annoyingly Cheerful".

These are hilarious. I've read the online magazine, but never seen any of their videos before. I think the SweatRoom was what Jon Stewart was going for a couple of years ago when he tried that "Seat of Heat" segment that didn't work out.

Thanks Chaka,

I haven't seen such funny clips in a while- those were hilarious.

I will most likely wake up in the middle of the night, think of one of these funny clips and chuckle to myself before drifting back into the blissful sleep that comes when making fun of other people.

Most of the time, I think CNN and FoxNews are just trying to be the Onion. Like, today, on CNN, there was a headline about a naked jogger in town, followed by a headline about a huge python putting the squeeze on a reporter.

Funny stuff. Funny, funny stuff.
