Words of Intimidation

What an "adorable" arrangement
I recently realized that there are certain words I feel uncomfortable using. I'm not talking about the typical four letter words that are looked down upon by society. I'm talking about nice words that have a pleasant sound to them, but I hesitate to use them because they sound way too feminine.

Here are the culprit adjectives I can't bring myself to say:

Delightful
Adorable
Splendid
Heavenly
Lovely
Sublime
Scrumptious

I'm pretty sure these words have never been uttered on a football field. I obviously don't feel the need to use these words while playing sports or doing other manly activities, but occasionally "scrumptious" might be an appropriate word choice if I'm attempting to describe delicious food. I guess I'll just have to stick with my regular dumb guy adjectives of "so good" and "awesome" to describe tasty food.

I admit to using "delightful" on a regular basis.

This post is delightful.

These are simply words that men don't use. Real men.

I've decided you must be related to my husband. He refuses to use any words like these or even close to it. In fact, my car (mini-cooper) is just to girlie for him. He refuses to drive it unless he absolutley has to. And even then he is afraid that if spends too much time he might start to grow ovaries and menstruate. LOL

um....hope you don't drive a mini *sheepish now*

I use 'adorable' on the regular basis... But that's my Rebekah's (aka Kukis) fault.... Perhaps that explains why I often just want to eat her!

I dont think anyone should say "scrumptous". It grossly offends the senses. Embarrassing, even.

"Had it written, I would tear the word!" (I'm sure Shakespeare was speaking of "scrumptous" when he wrote that.)

Does anyone else think of 'Smeagol' from 'The Lord of the Rings' when I hear 'scrump-tu-ous'?

Here's a few you could use that are somewhat masculine:
spiffy--you have to say with the right tone.
ridiculous (one of my favorite's, btw)
rad--a bit immature, but try it.
groovy (it's back and it's hunky)

Haha! Pretty much right after I read this post I watched a movie and a guy in it told a girl she was scrumptious, of course beating himself up about the use of that word after she walked away. Preeeetty funny, and yes, it is a horrible word.
